Postdoc position in topology at KIT

We invite applications for a 3-year postdoc position as a research assistant (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) as part of the research group of Prof. Dr. Roman Sauer (see link below). Payment is based on the German salary scale E13 TVL.

Teaching duties comprise four hours per week during the teaching periods from midst of October to early February and midst of April to end of July. This may also involve teaching in German but not starting before October 2022. So immediate knowledge of German is not required but you should be willing to learn German.

You have the opportunity to become an associated fellow in the DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG 2229 "Asymptotic Limits and Invariants of Groups and Spaces" (see www.groups-and-spaces.kit.edu). You can thus benefit from the RTG's intensive guest and qualification program. We offer a vibrant scientific environment and opportunities to develop your career.

We are especially interested in the following research areas: geometric group theory, (geometric or quantitative) topology and L2-invariants. We also have an emerging interest in theorem provers (e.g. Lean) or computer-assisted proving.

KIT strives to achieve gender balance at all levels of employment. We therefore particularly encourage female candidates to apply for these positions.
We are committed to a family-friendly work environment for all parents.

Applications should be received by August 1st, 2021. Please submit your application as a single pdf file to ines.knoch@kit.edu.
The position will remain open until suitable candidates have been identified.
