Two times each year the Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung offers the Gauss lecture by an established mathematician and directed to a general audience. The second Gauss lecture of 2018 was delivered in Regensburg on the 23rd of October by Cédric Villani, fields medaillist and elected member of the Assemblée Nationale in Paris.
